The Backup & Restore addon is accessible from the comfort of your WHMCS control panel. You will notice that when you go to a client with a cPanel based product, a new button ‘Backup & Restore’ will appear on the ‘Products/Services’ tab next to ‘Change Password’. Clicking on this will take you to a screen where you can choose what action you want to perform.

From this screen you have a choice to launch a backup, a restore or a transfer between servers.
1) Backup: simply creates a cPanel full backup. This can then be access by the user via cPanel.
2) Restore: restores the latest daily backup for the chosen account.
3) Transfer: after specifying the destination server, this will transfer the cPanel account from the current server to the new server. Note that it will not delete the account on the old server.
4) Reset: if somewhere along the lines, the addon is misbehaving, this action resets the addon status for the selected account.

Configuration

After installation you can start configuring the addon.
1) Go to Setup > Addon Modules, activate the Addon and enter your license code (received via email when you ordered on our site).

2) If you want to be able to transfer accounts from one server to another, you need to set up the same FTP user with the same password on every destination server. This user needs to have access to the directory /backup/cpbackup/daily in read and write mode. A simple way to do this is to create a new cPanel user and in this user’s home directory create a link to the /backup/cpbackup/daily directory.

Once you have done this, you need to fill in the fields ‘User name’ and ‘Password’ with the the id and password of this user. In the field ‘Protocol’, you enter the type of ftp (e.g. normal or passive). In the field ‘Port’, the FTP port (normally 21) and in the field ‘Directory’, the FTP directory that links to /backup/cpbackup/daily. So if for example you have created a link in the user’s home directory as ‘ln -s backup /backup/cpbackup/daily’, then you enter ‘/backup/’ in this field (don’t forget the trailing slash).

3) In the field ‘Email’, enter the email address of a WHMCS support department.

4) If you want to be able to perform backups, you only need to fill in the field ‘Email’ as described here above.

5) If you want to be able to perform restores, you don’t need to fill in any fields.

That’s it, you’re now ready to start![two_third]
